Come spend the day learning the new digital mammography application that is expected to show an increase in breast cancer detection and reduce call back rates. The day is filled with interesting new information on Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT). We will investigate the DBT technology, mammography technologist quality control testing, clinical applications and more. While 2D mammography has its benefits over analog there is still the issue of superimposed tissue which can obscure structures. This unique modality demonstrates breast tissue without overlying structures by imaging the breast in thin cross sectional slices. You don’t want to miss this day of education and get in on the ground floor of knowledge regarding this fascinating new modality.
Digital Breast Tomosynthesis is a modality under MQSA which requires personnel to receive 8 hours of initial training before performing this clinical examination. This course satisfies the MQSA requirement of 8.0 hours of training in a new mammographic modality. It includes the common features of Digital Breast Tomosynthesis and the unique features specific to the Hologic Selenia Dimensions DBT System.
**Participants who will be working on GE SenoClaire or the Siemens Mammomat Inspiration DBT equipment may attend this course. Please call AHEC for more information on how to accomplish the unique equipment component training for your perspective system.
Physicians are welcome to attend and receive 8 Category 1 credits however the MQSA requirements for physicians in this modality are specific to interpretation. Physicians must call AHEC at 800-239-1361 to register for this course in order to receive Category 1 credit.
**This live, instructor-directed course meets the Texas Medical Board requirements for all registered Medical Radiologic Technologists. Please refer to the TMB website for more information at this LINK
