Ultrasound is playing an increasingly important role in gynecology. Important additional information can be added to the physical exam findings when the uterus and ovaries are visualized with ultrasound. This two-day course will familiarize you with the skills and techniques needed to obtain diagnostic images. We will begin the course with a lecture reviewing the basic knowledge needed to properly perform and interpret transabdominal and endovaginal ultrasound scans.
This knowledge will then be utilized in our hands-on scan lab where participants have the opportunity to practice scanning a variety of models. Faculty supervised scanning builds confidence and aids in the hand-eye coordination necessary to perform and interpret the ultrasound exam. The addition of Doppler to the study will aid in the diagnosis and interpretation of pelvic pathology.
