Course Description:
This course is designed for the technologist interested in learning about MRI or cross-training into MRI. The course will cover basic cross sectional anatomy of the brain, spine, breast,abdomen and pelvis. You will learn general pulse sequences, the purpose and uses of coils, Infection control for coils, gating for thoracic and abdomen imaging. The day will end with an overview of MRI contrast, testing and reactions. You will leave with a much clearer understanding of the concepts, procedures and safety concerns of MRI.

Stephen Powers , BSRT, RT(R)(CT)(MR)
Stephen J. Powers, BSRT, RT(R)(MR)(CT) has over 40 years of imaging experience in Radiology, CT, Special procedures with 30 years in MRI. He started in MRI in 1990, and has worked on a variety of systems from .5T to 3T in community and teaching hospitals and is a former MR Applications Specialist for GE Medical Systems. Stephen has been teaching for AHEC for several years and has also been a speaker for various local, state and national societies including the SMRT, NESRT and MSRT. He is a requested speaker in both MR registry review and MR diagnostic courses nationwide. Stephen is currently a Staff Technologists at South Coast Hospital Group in Southeastern Mass. He is soon to be a published author of two books: MRI Physics: Tech to Tech explanations and MRI Registry Review: Tech to Tech Questions and Answers.
