Upon returning to work in the ER after taking this class, the first patient of the day had a swollen right leg for 2 days. I pulled out our machine, and located the femoral vein and artery. I followed it down and at the mid thigh, I noted it wasn't compressing. I could see a clot. This was visible to the popliteal. I felt confident enough in what I was seeing to order anticoagulation right away, before getting confirmation with a formal ultrasound. I was quite excited! Thanks again for giving me the basic tools to get started!
