Core IR procedures – indications, contraindications, anatomy, step-by-step processes, and essential equipment.

Course overview and introduction to Interventional Radiology
Medical terminology review
Patient communication, consent, education, and radiation safety
Patient transfers, positioning, and monitoring
Medications, labs, sedation, and documentation
Sterile technique and hazardous waste management
Day 2: Imaging & Vascular Access
Contrast usage in IR (including pressure injectors)
Emergency care in IR (air embolism, contrast reaction, stroke/MI, hemorrhage, codes)
Diagnostic imaging: fluoroscopy, CT, and ultrasound
Central venous lines and access
Femoral and radial arterial access and closure
Day 3: Core Procedures & Equipment
Circulatory system review
IR equipment: sheaths, catheters, and wires
Fistulas for hemodialysis
Urologic procedures (nephrostomy, stents, catheters)
Percutaneous biopsies, ablations, and drainages
Day 4: Advanced Vascular & System-Based Procedures
Pulmonary embolism intervention
Aortic angiography and intervention
Neuro angiography and intervention
Pelvic and extremity angiography and intervention
Collaborating with surgery, cath lab, anesthesia, and other specialties
Day 5: Specialty Procedures & Case Review
Vena cava procedures (filter placement, stenting, thrombectomy)
Liver and biliary interventions (TIPS, TARE, TACE, drains, biopsies)
Spinal procedures (kyphoplasty, vertebroplasty, lumbar puncture, myelography)
Gastrointestinal procedures (gastrostomy, gastrojejunostomy, specialty tubes)
