This course provides a comprehensive overview of current imaging techniques and considerations in the detection and management of breast cancer. The course explores the role of MRI in breast cancer, including its various applications and real-world case studies to help assess when MRI is most beneficial. Participants will also receive an update on high-risk breast lesions, covering the different types of lesions, imaging strategies, and practical mammography tips for accurate evaluation, along with supporting case studies. The course continues with a detailed review of breast tomosynthesis, including its history, benefits, limitations, safety considerations, and the specific requirements needed to perform the procedure. Comparisons between tomosynthesis and traditional spot compression views are also discussed, reinforced with case study images. Finally, the course covers whole breast ultrasound (WBUS), defining its purpose, benefits, and limitations, and identifying which patients may benefit most from this imaging modality. The growing focus on breast density and how it impacts screening recommendations is also addressed, along with case study examples to illustrate the practical application of WBUS in clinical settings. This course is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of imaging professionals working in breast health.
