2026 Annual Radiology and Reindeer

'Tis the season for learning! Join us for the 2026 Annual Radiology and Reindeer, a festive six-hour continuing education program filled with imaging insights, clinical applications, emerging technology, and holiday spirit.

Course Topics Include:

  • Follow the Photon: Explore the similarities and differences between conventional radiography and DXA, including dual-energy imaging, attenuation, bone mineral density, and image interpretation.

  • Alzheimer’s & Medical Imaging: Review Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, pathology, clinical presentation, diagnosis, and the role of medical imaging.

  • Down the Spine: Examine diagnostic myelography, CT myelography, and MRI, including spinal anatomy, pathology, patient preparation, contrast, imaging techniques, and case-based applications.

  • AI in Radiology: Discover how artificial intelligence is transforming radiography, fluoroscopy, CT, MRI, nuclear medicine, and PET, along with its benefits, limitations, and impact on the radiologic technologist.

So grab your ugly sweater, favorite holiday beverage, and curiosity, and join us for a day of learning, laughter, and a sleigh-full of radiology! Radiology and Reindeer is a festive way to earn your CE while celebrating the season with your imaging colleagues.

Objectives:

By the end of this presentation, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify the fundamental principles shared by conventional radiography and dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA).
  2. Compare how conventional radiography and DXA acquire, process, and display patient data.
  3. Explain how DXA uses two X-ray energy levels to differentiate bone from soft tissue.
  4. Describe how X-ray attenuation measurements are converted into bone mineral density results.
  5. Distinguish the purpose of the DXA image from the quantitative data used to assess bone health.
  6. Explain why DXA results cannot be interpreted using the same principles as conventional radiographic images.
  7. Discuss Alzheimer's vs Dementia
  8. Discuss Alzheimer's Statistics, History, and Pathological Features,
  9. Discuss the Clinical Presentation and Anatomy involved in imaging Alzheimer's patients.
  10. Discuss Testing, Diagnosis and how Imaging Modalities are used
  11. Describe the purpose, indications, and contraindications of myelography.
  12. Explain patient preparation, positioning, contrast administration, and image acquisition principles used during a myelographic examination.
  13. Identify common myelographic findings and correlate them with corresponding CT and MRI appearances.
  14. Compare the strengths and limitations of conventional myelography, CT myelography, and MRI for evaluating spinal anatomy and pathology.
  15. Discuss post-procedure care and recognize potential complications associated with myelography.
  16. Explain the radiologic technologist’s role in maintaining patient safety, image quality, and effective communication throughout the examination.
  17. Describe current applications of artificial intelligence throughout the radiology workflow.
  18. Discuss the potential benefits and limitations of AI related to efficiency, image quality, diagnostic support, and patient care.
  19. Identify considerations for implementing AI in a radiology department, including data privacy, bias, staff education, and professional oversight.
  20. Explain how AI may affect the responsibilities of radiologic technologists and other members of the imaging team.
