Course Objectives

  1. Understand clinical knowledge of coronary heart disease and other cardiovascular diseases. 

  1. Understand the principles and clinical indications of CT calcium scoring and cardiac angiography 

  1. Understand the basic physics of cardiac CT and ECG-gating, optimization of radiation dose and image quality 

  1. Demonstrate the basic physics of PET/CT scanners. 

  1. Understand the clinical value of PET/CT imaging in overall patient care. 

  1. Evaluate clinical cases to demonstrate the advantages of utilizing hybrid imaging technologies 

  1. Understand basic imaging procedures to include sectional anatomy and scanning parameters. 

  1. Explain the indications and contraindications for the use of iodinated contrast media including anatomical structures that are enhanced on CT scanning of the Head and Brain. 

  1. Discuss the difference between white and gray matter with reference to location and function 

  1. Discuss the common types of fractures associated with the bony skull and face. 

  1. Differentiate the difference od subdural epidural and subarachnoid brain bleeds. 

  1. Discuss the most common brain tumors associated with adult and pediatric CT Imaging. 

  1. Distinguish between the technical parameters for acquisition and contrast injections for Chest CT procedures 

  1. Review and distinguish CT Chest, Abdomen, and Pelvis anatomy 

  1. Understand how to protocol CT studies for various clinical indications in the abdomen and pelvis.
